“This is one hell of a début...the sort of book I wish Phil Rickman would write. This novel manages to be both action packed and fast paced, as well being layered with themes such as self sacrifice, duty and twisted morals. It's thanks to Adrian's talent that these themes of duty and morality are handled in a way that is thought provoking, yet never come across as preachy or get in the way of the story. This is one of those novels that will stay with you long after you've finished it. “

“A confident, well-written and thoroughly satisfying supernatural thriller...a fine horror story and a very promising start to Adrian Chamberlin’s novel writing career. I look forward to seeing more from him in the future but in the meantime can happily recommend this book as fine addition to the shelf marked British Horror.”

“This is a gritty thriller, with some great plot twists and well developed characters. The supernatural elements are well thought out, and the dialogue believable. With more than a whiff of Stephen King about it, The Caretakers is well worth a read if you enjoy a good supernatural conspiracy novel.

“The Caretakers is a suspenseful and intriguing read with hints and clues that lead to further layers and sub-plots within the novel...This is my kind of horror novel (although it could also be labelled a mystery and a thriller, and as such brings together the best elements of all three genres) with the stories of separate characters who gradually come together to face a great evil. Think along the lines of King, Straub, Campbell, Laws, and McCammon. I recommend The Caretakers, and Adrian Chamberlin as a writer to look out for.”

“Adrian Chamberlin knows his stuff with regard offering a well-realised setting. The Caretakers offers a Cambridge you’ve never seen before and, thankfully, never will. All Souls College is suitably gloomy, with a dark history hidden behind the clunch stone walls. The Caretakers is a return to horror in the classic sense. If you’re looking for a gritty, bloody and thought-provoking horror offering then this title will remain in your mind long after you’ve turned the last page. This is a strong first offering for a novel-length work and it can only get more dark and terrifying from here.”
- TOAD’S CORNER. Full review here
“Chamberlin delivers a detailed story filled with well-realised characters in a gritty, realistic setting and often, literally, visceral drama. And, in the vein of classic horror, there are no neat or clean outcomes. No one escapes All Souls College unscathed. Can't wait for this author's next offering.”
- Nerine Dorman’s review on Goodreads. Full review here
“Chamberlin masterfully pulls on the right strings at just the right time to plummet the reader into the action-rich thick of it all, with the simple ease of a great storyteller...a wildly ingenious and elaborate story that swamps the reader from the outset with its many levels and mind-blowing intricacies.”
- DREADLOCKSMILE REVIEWS. Full review here
“The author is a master of stringing the reader along by giving him or her just enough info to keep them wanting more, but not enough that you can make an entire picture of what’s going on at this insidious school. Whether it’s a character’s inner turmoil, the end result of a bloody altercation, or the paranormal appearance of certain green looking characters, almost every description was incredibly well written. I will warn you right now that this is going to be a book you are not going to want to put down...great characters, an intriguing story, and an ending I was more than impressed with.“
